What Does Inner Freedom Truly Mean to You?
I had never really paused to reflect on the word “freedom” or what it meant to me until I stepped onto my inner journey. Like many, I associated freedom with external liberties and independence. Yet, I remember, I would feel stuck internally, not knowing how to move forward without feeling the pain of challenges. The roadblocks were not outside; they were within me. Triggered by a deep desire to be happy, I asked myself, What does freedom mean to me? The answer emerged with clarity: the freedom to express authentically.
Live Authentically & Reclaim Your Power
True freedom comes from our internal acceptance and courage rather than external circumstances. Our beliefs, fears, and the constant craving for validation often act as invisible barriers that limit our ability to act, speak, or live freely. Inner independence is about choosing your path without the fear of rejection or judgment. It's saying "yes" to what aligns with you and "no" without guilt or hesitation. I remember that in my desire to feel loved, I got so caught up in my fear of imperfection that I didn’t even realize when my carefree spirit got diminished. My attachment to my beliefs created a fear of failure and inhibited my potential.
The Silent Shackles of Success: How Societal Conditioning Limits Inner Freedom
Over the years, I’ve worked with many successful individuals, leaders, thinkers, and creators who unknowingly submit their inner power to the ego. In their desire to succeed and climb the ladder of wealth, position, and power, they lose sight of their truth and fall prey to the chains of societal conditioning. We may appear free, but often we live according to others’ expectations, measuring our worth by society’s yardstick. The true prison isn’t outside; it’s in the mind. Once we align with our inner voice, we begin to rediscover our true worth as pure consciousness.
3 Ways to Reclaim Your Inner Freedom
Focus Inward
Shift your attention inward and focus on what your emotions are trying to tell you. Start listening to your soul's whispers instead of the noise around you. Ask yourself: What do I want deep in my heart? These answers aren’t found in books or from mentors, not even in books on happiness. They emerge in stillness, in the quiet moments when you are willing to be honest with yourself. I remember asking myself this question nearly two decades ago. My answer was simple: peace of mind and a life without regrets. That moment of clarity marked my return to the essence of happiness.
Own Your Power
Freedom isn’t something to earn; it’s something to reclaim. One of the biggest realizations in my transformation journey was understanding that I have the power to choose how to think, how to feel, and how to respond. You have that same power. To act, speak, pause, or walk away. Don't let the pressure to "be someone" cause you to lose sight of your true self. Change “I should” to “I choose.” That shift can transform your entire energy field.
Forgive Yourself
Clinging to pain keeps us tethered to the past. Forgiveness is about freeing yourself, not excusing others. Think of Nelson Mandela, who forgave his captors to free his spirit. When I learned to accept my humanness, I realized that making mistakes is part of the journey. Life isn’t about perfection; it’s about progress. And progress leads us to discover our inner perfection, one that is not about flawlessness but about authenticity, resilience, and self-compassion.
Leading with Inner Freedom
As a spiritual coach, I believe true leadership begins within. Inner peace brings clarity, agility, and compassion. It enables us to adapt with strength, respond with wisdom, and live in alignment with our truth. Ashu Khanna is more than a name; her life is a journey of remembering who I am, beyond roles and titles. That is where true independence resides, where the essence of who you are is no longer shaped by what you do but by the truth you live.
