Dharma in Times of Conflict -A Call for Conscious Leadership

Published on May 14, 2025 • 4 Min read

In the wake of wars, as emotions run high, we are reminded again of the fragility of life… and the power of unity. A geopolitical conflict is a spiritual test of how we choose to respond, lead, and rise as citizens of the Nation. Like Arjuna in Mahabharata, we all struggle with knowing ‘what is the right thing to do’ and finding the courage to do our duty.  While anger, fear, and grief are natural reactions, I invite you today to pause and reflect on a deeper question:

How can transform these negative emotions and rise collectively as beacons of peace, compassion,n and courage?

Conscious leadership begins within. In moments of strife, nationalism must not reduce us to tribalism. It must elevate us to guardians of a higher consciousness. Dharma, not division, must guide us. Dharma is not religion; it is the natural law of right conduct. The way the inherent nature of salt is salty, and sugar is sweet; similarly, our inherent nature is Sat Chit Ananda. It is only when we act in alignment with our inner voice, do we experience true bliss.

Dharma is not an act of aggression or division. It is an act of inner responsibility to committing transforming and redirecting emotions in service of humanity. When we anchor ourselves in awareness, compassion and clarity, we begin to elevate not only ourselves, but the energetic field of the country we inhabit. By choosing dharma over anger, we can transform, heal and become conscious citizens.

Peace is not the absence of challenges. Peace is an inner state of being. Inner anchoring helps us quieten the noise within and listen to the divine voice of wisdom. When we know our identity as pure consciousness, we can act selflessly and courageously, as an instrument of the Higher Self. Due to a lack of self-awareness, I had suppressed my emotions under the weight of expectations and misconceptions. I would project the anger, fear, and anxiety onto my world of relationships with a desire to feel in control. All that occurred was more conflict and chaos.  Tired and anguished, I committed to my journey of self-discovery and transformation. When I realised that the inner voice is the voice of truth, I decided to channel my anger inwards to stop taking myself for granted. This decision freed me from chasing my own shadow. Fear is the other side of love. When we come from love, we become a catalyst for change. Living authentically, I have grown into a spiritual teacher and life coach, who works with aspiring leaders to reconnect and anchor with their inner self and live with courage, compassion, and consciousness.

Leadership is about impact rather than dominance. Let us collectively commit as spiritual seekers, leaders, and fellow human beings:

* To rise in awareness, in responsibility, in unity.

* To honour the lives lost by living authentically.

* To anchor in stillness instead of rage.

* To become instruments of healing instead of echo chambers of fear.

* To raise our children not to hate, but to serve.

India is not just a country. It is a civilization founded on dharma — the spiritual law of truth, justice and balance. Dharma teaches us that:

* Every soul is divine.

* True power lies in self-mastery.

* Our role is to act, not react.

The true strength of a nation lies not just in its military — but in the collective consciousness of its people. Remember, you are the peace you seek; you are the leader the world needs. Let us honour the spirit our nation and rise as beacons of dharma. Let us collectively stand up for truth with compassion.

With love and light,

 Ashu
