Becoming an Instrument of Love

Published on Jan 14, 2026 • 4 Min read

At the core of our existence lies a simple truth - we have the awareness to transform and unfold by living in alignment with our inner voice. We are designed to rise to our fullest potential and serve as an instrument of Universal Love. It is only when we commit to a life of purpose and compassion, are we able to leave a legacy of love.

Legacy is not just the footprints that we leave behind; it is how we walk through life while we are here. It is the quiet imprint of love we leave in the hearts of people we touch. When life is lived from this awareness, legacy becomes a natural outcome of living true. My parents lived a life of courage, faith and love. They dedicated themselves to serving everyone in their circle selflessly. Their life inspired me to ask myself, how would I like to be remembered and the answer was resoundingly clear, ‘with love’.

Expanding with Love

Moving beyond the ego helps us engage with the world without attachment to our individuality. Our actions become rooted in service rather than self-importance. We listen deeply from the space of love. We give without measuring. We act without the need for reward.

For years, I had been so caught up in my anger, expectations, fears and judgements, that living from love required a significant change in thinking and behaviour. I had to learn to listen, I had to learn to pause, I had to learn to stop trying to win and have the last word. To let go of all these negative emotions, I associated with people who exuded love, courage, compassion, I studied scriptures like the Vedanta and The Bhagavat Gita, I  read inspiring books and spent time chanting and listening to devotional songs. Changing my vibrational frequency made me anchor internally and notice that we are all spiritual beings.

We do not need to earn love. We are Love. The need of the ego to be seen, known, or celebrated dissolves when we realise that we are already whole; when we know that we are a perfect manifestation of Universal Love, born to serve as an embodiment of love.

Self Love as the Gateway to Service

Self love invites us to observe our thoughts, emotions, and motivations with compassion. With compassion, we begin to notice how often our actions are driven by fear, insecurity, or the desire for control. Gradually, the ego dissolves and the love within expands.

As awareness expands, we create more space to serve with love. Our relationship with life changes by embracing the wholeness of life. We can align with the higher self and start embodying love through our presence.

Seeing the World as One

When we stop seeing ourselves as separate entities navigating an unfamiliar world, and experience life as interconnected, we give momentum to the collective consciousness. Then, every interaction becomes an expression of Universal Consciousness and every person or situation is a medium of transformation and service.

The realisation that we are all spiritual beings shifted my lens to life completely. I started observing life keenly to understand what every person or situation is trying to teach me. My anger started dissolving because I knew we were all interconnected at the core.

Feeling inspired, I stepped up to serve as the Founder President of the ICF Chapter of Mumbai. Since we were committed to creating awareness about the power of coaching, many volunteers joined the movement and before long, we had a community of about 100 members. Several reputable corporations supported us and we were able to expand our offerings from learning events to writing articles in reputable publications, developing leadership capability at NGOs and organizations as well as publishing a book. The collective energy helped the Chapter grow rapidly.

Seeing the world as one dissolves the illusion of otherness. Compassion then, is no longer a choice. It becomes a natural response. Service is no longer an effort. It is a way of being. This shift from individuality to oneness is not philosophical. It is deeply experiential when we understand our identity as pure consciousness or Sat Chit Ananda.

Legacy as Footprints of Love

When we serve as instruments of Universal Love, we no longer ask how our work will be remembered. We ask how we can show up fully at this moment. Legacy then unfolds naturally.

Legacy is not limited to big acts of service. It also lives in the simple way we make others feel understood or accepted. In the sense of safety created simply by our presence. These are footprints of love. They do not fade with time because they are not attached to form. They are carried forward through the lives they touch. As a parent, I shifted from seeing my children as an extension to myself, to accepting them as souls that are connected to my journey of transformation. This helped me build a relationship of trust rather than authority.

Becoming an Instrument of Love

We can lead with love when we allow the individual self to be guided by the higher self. Action, then, is no longer fragmented. Thought, intention, and behaviour align. In this alignment, leadership becomes an act of service and empowerment. Life becomes a journey of living with love and presence. When we live quietly with love, legacy is not something we aim to create; it is a natural outcome of a life of dharma.
